Thanksgiving Day is Coming, or is it here?

We find David delivered and dedicated; delivered against enormous odds from the hands of Saul and all his enemies; and dedicated to the odds-breaker, dream-maker…the God of the Universe.  David is now King of Israel with Jerusalem as the Capital City and the new home for the Ark of the Lord.  David sits down in the presence of the Lord with a mindset of awe & thanksgiving (1 Chron. 17:16-27).

·         Made Me (16-17) – “Who am I?” Have you ever pondered the magnitude of the answer to such a deep question?  To think that by a preexisting thought of God, you are worthy and needed, loved and anticipated, expected and directed; for a potential purpose greater than  you can think or imagine (Eph 3:20).  How amazingly far has he “brought” you and/or sustained you?  God’s vision of your “future” is as though you “were the most exalted of men” (Jeremiah 29:11).  “Who are you?”  You have big-time potential & major importance if you’ll just seek His path and participate in His plan.

·          Promised Me (18-19) – The promises of God are the energy drinks of spiritual life.  God knows who you are, what you need and when you need it.  He knows you better than you know yourself (Jeremiah 1:5).  ‘His will’ is clear as to your obedience and reliance on Him & ‘His will’ should drive all your plans if you desire to prevail rather than fail (Prov. 19:21).

·         Redeemed Me (20-22)God isn’t #1…He’s The One!  No other religion has the availability of a Redeemer (Ps. 78:35) who bridged the gap from imperfection to salvation to deal with an eternal spirit (Job 19:25-27).  God has performed “great and awesome wonders” to make us His “very own forever”.

·         Purpose for Me (23-24) – When we hitch our wagon to the power of His promises we are directed to the destination where we reflect the love of Jesus.  This is the point where it is “established” and set ‘that His name will be great forever’ (Phil. 2:9-11).  You were created for this purpose!

·         Blessed Me (25-27) – The Lord is to be the builder & protector of your home (Ps 127:1) and this “revelation” of reliance should be a source of “courage” (Mt 14:27).  He is there/here for us.  The fact that we are connected to Him; that we can talk to God, that He listens, that He answers & directs us, always with our best interest in mind; is a soothing blessing despite circumstance.  The true blessing is His Spirit which flows through us as His servants.  As such we are absolutely blessed with the purpose to be a certain source of blessing to others.
