 We’re are a young – median adult class at Shades Mountain Baptist Church in Birmingham, Alabama. While we exist primarily to give our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ the glory He deserves through meaningful and purposeful worship, we also strive to instill in our members a thirst for The Word – God’s “Love Letter” and “Instruction Manual” to us – and a deepening commitment to the advice given in Hebrews 6:1a (our Class Focal Verse): “Therefore, let us leave the elementary teachings about Christ and go on to maturity…”
Our Class Purpose Statement reads as follows:
“To glorify God through interactive Bible study; to produce an environment where individuals and families are strengthened through fellowship, prayer, and purpose; to produce in all members a vibrant maturing relationship with Jesus Christ, and in as many as are called, a passion to surrender without reservation to lead in the cause of Christ in our neighborhoods, our city, and our world.” We also believe that “Purpose Statements,” “Core Beliefs” and the like may look nice in a frame on a wall but don’t mean much unless they’re fleshed out in everyday life. To that end, we are committed, as broken people saved only by the grace of Jesus, to extending the same mercy shown us to others as we go about our daily lives. We love our Lord, each other, and would be privileged to have you join us on Sundays at 11:00. Until then, we invite you to visit the different features on our website.
